Lodge at Valle Chacabuco, Patagonia Park, Chile

Kristine and Doug Tompkins are the largest private landowners in the world, with the purchase of over 2 million acres in Chile and Argentina. Their goal is to create twelve new national parks and gift them back to the governments of the respective countries for conservation purposes, building local economies through tourism, and building national pride.

Through the efforts of their organization, Conservacion Patagonica, Patagonia Park is now a destination with a new luxury lodge, restaurant, retail, an extensive trail system, and an interpretive center. In 2014, Coates Consulting was hired to improve the guest experience, build awareness in the travel market, and provide leadership in project funding. CC conducted a complete on-site audit of the Lodge resulting in an improved guest experience through print and on-line communications, the development of a complete lodge operations manual for leadership and shift employees, and recommendations for improvements at nearly every touch point of the experience. Other roles included strategic planning for fundraising, outreach to donors and the advisory board, and project support in the U.S. office.
